The Spy x Family manga by Tatsuya Endo first appeared in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ in March 2019 and, to date, the ongoing series has yielded ten volumes of content. The story centers on the Forger family which is both dangerous and wholesome. The story follows the father who is adopted Loid, an ace spy; the daughter Anya who can read the thoughts of other people’s thoughts; and Yor the deadly assassin identified as the Thorn Princess. As of December 2022, more than 29 million copies of Spy x Family have sold around the world, as manga lovers and their fans are drawn to the hilarious yet action-packed show.
Spyx Family’s popularity earned it an animated
The anime adaptation was born out of the show’s huge popularity. Produced by CloverWorks (My Dress-Up Darling) and Wit Studio (Ranking of Kings) the show debuted its first part in April 2022 before launching its second cour in the fall of 2022. The show, as with Endo’s manga has a dedicated fan base. Fans have expressed their passion for the show through amazing fan-made content, including cosplay. Beyond the muscle-bound Anya, TikTok user Bestiny figured out a creative way to display all of the emotions of a young mind reader through a single character.

Spy x Family Inspires Creative Cosplays
Spy x Family’s Anya isn’t the only Spy x Family hero who has been a popular cosplay character. KoiOkazawaSlackline, an aerial acrobat, posted a crazy video where they defy gravity to play the character of the Thorn Princess. A hilarious cosplay video was also shared by Anime Festival Asia 2022 that featured Emile as well as Ewen dancing.
Many companies have capitalized on the Spy x Family’s popularity to make money and have produced a variety of collectibles for fans to spend their hard-earned money on. Noritake tableware manufacturer has released a classy tea set that was inspired by the series towards the close of the year. The cups and saucers are white and pale pink and are decorated with gold trim. Additionally, Bandai launched a line of special Tamagotchis that allow gamers to create their own Anya.
VIZ Media distributes Endo’s manga in North America, and the Spy x Family anime by Wit Studio and CloverWorks is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Hulu.
