The Seraphim are thought to be the greatest human beings in One Piece, but what is their actual composition and what do they have to offer?
The following article contains spoilers for the One Piece “Egghead” Arc, available in English from Viz Media.
One Piece has recently resolved the mystery of Dr. Vegapunk. The renowned genius behind the Marines’ technologically-advanced weaponry is quite infamous in the series, largely because his inventions enable the Marines to maintain their foothold against many powerful criminal forces. Vegapunk is still honed in his craft, continuing to create powerful weapons while furthering his research about the past and how the world functions. He is so interested in learning that he created six Satellites that he likes to assist him in reaching his goals. However, his most significant and most effective invention isn’t the satellites. It’s the Seraphim.
Recently in the past, the Seraphim made their first appearance in the series. They are the embodiment of the evolution of humanity and are, of course, the most powerful killing machines the World Government has available to them. Their predecessors, the Pacifista, can’t hold a candle against them in a fight and they give Luffy and the others a good run for their money. They’re the most convincing proof of the genius of Vegapunk, showing that scientists can make impossible things possible. This leads to the question of what exactly the Seraphim are and the materials they’re made from.

The Birth of the Winged Killing Machines
The World Government’s purge of the Seven Warlords saw the first appearances of the Seraphim. The Marines have brought S-Snake and S-Hawk over to Amazon Lily, as they attempt to take down Boa Hancock, the former Warlord Boa Hancock. The rest of the Seraphim did not appear until the “Egghead” Arc when Cipher Pol 0 arrive at the island. They’ve brought S-Bear along with the intent of killing Vegapunk and his Satellites while putting on the guise of a delivery. As the story develops, S-Shark is also introduced. Edison one of Vega punk’s Satellites is a battle between the Seraphim against the Straw Hat Pirates to gather battle data.
There are only four Seraphim in the Seraphim series. It wouldn’t be surprising to see more. After all, they resemble the Warlords of the past, as well as several notable characters who have held that title. Even though they have the same appearance, Seraphim appear younger than their older counterparts. They are only recently made and still lack combat experience. This is the main reason Edison puts S-Shark in the same league as the Straw Hat Pirates. It also means that Seraphim is far from being at its peak.

The reason why the Seraphim look like old Warlords is that they are them. They are clones of the former Warlords similar to how Stussy is a clone of Miss Buckingham Stussy. The Seraphim, however, are not clones of their original themselves like the Warlords. Vegapunk has also added other vital components to its arsenal that increased its power in combat. The Seraphim are the Warlord’s clones. They also have the Lineage Factor of the Lunarian Alber. Also known as King of Beast Pirates, This is what gives the Seraphim their white hair, dark complexion with black wings, and a blazing flame located in their backs.
The Seraphim have also undergone an acceleration in their growth, making them look like youngsters despite only being a couple of months old. Additionally, the blood that flows through their veins is not the typical red blood found in a variety of creatures. It’s Green Blood that also contains the Lineage Factor of Paramecia Devil Fruits, allowing Seraphim to have identical Devil Fruit power. They also share the same technology as Pacifistas. That means they can also unleash laser beams whenever they want. Dr. Vegapunk considers them the strongest form of humanity because of their numerous components. This is because Seraphim is composed of many different elements that make it costly and time-consuming to build and maintain them. And thus, there are only a few Seraphim.

Seraphim is a powerful group of people.
It’s not only because the creation of the Seraphim is difficult, but also because they’re the best form of humankind. It’s also due to their combat abilities being top-notch because each holds numerous different abilities. Lunarian genetics grants one of these abilities which is the body. Lunarians are known for their endurance. King’s battle with Zoro in the “Wano Country Arc” is a great illustration. The Seraphim who carry Alber’s bloodline, are capable of being invincible for short periods. They are invincible so long as the flame on their backs is ablaze.
It’s not just for fun that the Seraphim resemble Warlords. Each Seraphim is equipped with the same fighting skills as the Warlord. For example, S-Shark is an emulation of Jimbei and is also skilled when it comes to Fish-Man Karate. S-Snake is a clone of Jimbei and is equally smart as Boa Hancock when it comes to her appearance to entice her opponents. The Seraphim are advanced Pacifists, possess complete control of laser beams,, and can use them to defeat their enemies.
Finally, there is the Green Blood. This Green Blood is another creation of Vegapunk. It contains the Lineage Factor which is found in Paramecia Devil Fruit users. This allows the Seraphim to gain certain Devil Fruit Powers, without having to eat the Devil Fruit. Seraphim that have been modeled on Devil Fruit users, S-Snake or S-Bear, can use identical Devil Fruit powers. S-Shark and S-Hawk can be granted Devil Fruit powers that are compatible with their fighting skills. S-Shark has Senor Pink’s Swim-Swim Fruit, while S-Hawk has Mr. 1’s Dice-Dice Fruit.
